The United States Professional Tennis Association is a global leader in tennis-teaching certification and professional development. With more than 15,000 members worldwide, the Association raises the standards of tennis teaching professionals and promotes awareness of the sport. USPTA are Professionals who work full time in the tennis industry. They are subject to the most rigorous certification standards in the market today. Members must possess prior teaching experience. They complete numerous hours of education followed by a written and grip exam. They are evaluated while conducting a live private lesson and group lesson. They must demonstrate proper stroke technique and feeding skills, as well as possess an ability to communicate with their students and have a likable on-court presence.
They must have extensive knowledge about all aspects of the tennis business, develop tennis programming, oversee tennis operations, teach tennis lessons and coach teams of all levels and not just be a specialist in one limited segment of tennis-teaching.
After certification, USPTA professionals are required to a-mass continuing education credits to ensure they are providing the most up to date information to their clients.
The most important thing of all, USPTA professionals are held to a strict code of ethics that requires them to conduct themselves in the most professional manner possible, and to safe guard children who are learning the game or advancing their skills.
