It's an annual event.  New Years.  And it's the time of the year when we make a vow, or resolution, to change, to enhance something in our life.  It is no accident that the sport of tennis can address almost any New Year's Resolution you have set for yourself in 2019.

LOSE WEIGHT/FITNESS

 

On average a player burns 200-300 calories in 30 minutes.  This is because tennis tends to  be a stop-start  kind of game, whereas the best exercise for weight loss, and cardiovascular fitness.  The workout a game of tennis gives you the results in explosive movements and stretching, providing your body with so many benefits it's easy to see why tennis is a good choice when working towards better fitness.  No other sport other than tennis has ever been acclaimed from all disciples as one that develops great benefits, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Getting out with friends, as part of a team, or just getting together for lessons, is made easier with tennis.  Tennis constantly gets you talking and interacting with people you don't know.  As it goes, you might not know your opponent when you step on the court but by the time you step off, you're already friends.  Tennis is a great way to make lifelong friends.   So lace up your tennis shoes and head to the courts.

It's never too early to get your 2019 calendar in order and tennis should come first.  Start setting aside time for an organized weekly class, tournament, or social activity, and make tennis your priority.   Get a jump on summer planning today.  Register your child or teen for tennis lessons now.  This will alleviate the stress that comes in the spring, when you realize there is no summer plan in place.

 LEARN SOMETHING NEW

 

It's never too late to learn something new.  Tennis is a lifetime sport  for all ages  and can be played much of the year outdoors at a fairly low cost.  Learning new things keeps our brains active and flexible.  It gets you out of your comfort zone,  and also involves you in something different and into the athletic environment.   And Tennis is a lot of FUN!
